The SAR image shows open water with some formed bands of new ice in the upper left corner. Open water is also present in the lower right corner. In the central part of the image, consolidated ice with some open water areas are seen. The open water appears bright, while the ice is mostly dark. The dark ice indicates, that the ice concentrations is quite high, and if the area is covered by pancake ice, the individual pancakes are close together.
