The SAR image shows, that the upper part of the image is wind blown open water, while the lower right corner contains a small amount of ice. At the northern ice edge, new ice is formed in long narrow bands. In the lower right part of the image, the ice consists of pancake ice in different concentrations. Also open water areas are present in this part. All along the left hand side of the image, small bands of ice features are seen, and this is also pancake ice.
