AES algorithm

This is a two channel algorithm proposed by [Swift et al., 1985]. The algorithm models the atmosphere through a linear transformation from satellite measured antenna temperatures to ground estimated emissivities:

 

where is the emissivity, is the antenna temperature, is the temperature from free space, is the average atmosphere temperature, is the total atmospheric opacity and is the temperature at the surface.

In order to make the algorithm work properly, the satellite measured tie-points (brightness temperatures) have to be transformed to ground emissivities, using this linear transformation. The algorithm uses the channels 37V and 19H.
